Geshe Ngawang Gedun
Geshe la was born in Domo, Tibet in 1958. In 1959 his parents
escaped with him to India following the Chinese Communist invasion.
He studied at Sera Mey Monastery in Southern India and received
ordination from His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama at the age of
20. Geshe la excelled in his studies and examinations and, in
1992, he was awarded the degree of Geshe Lharampa, the equivalent
of the western Ph.D. in Buddhist Philosophy. In 1993 he then completed
a year of advanced studies at Gyudmed Tantric College.
Geshe la has been teaching in Australia since 1996 and around
the U.S. since 2000. He is the Spiritual Director of Australian
Tibetan Buddhist Center in Gold Coast, as well as Tara Tibetan
Buddhist Center in Washington State. Geshe la has also taught
and lectured at Universities and many other centers in both countries.
He is fluent in English and teaches to his western students with
great kindness, compassion and understanding.
Geshe la is also available for personal teachings and consultations,
healing prayers, blessings for newborns and those who have passed
